Upper Sandusky High School senior Betsy Young took first place in the 185-pound weight class in the Eric Wheeler Memorial Powerlifting Meet last Saturday at Springfield Northeastern High School.

Upper splits wrestling matches

Upper Sandusky split in a dual against Mid Ohio Athletic Conference foes, defeating Galion, 43-35, and losing to River Valley, 44-18, on Tuesday evening. Matt Luikart (120 pounds) led the way for the Rams by getting first-period pins in both of his matches.

Omission

Upper Sandusky junior high wrestler Nick Stuckey took first place in the Little Warrior tournament last Saturday at Mohawk. His named was inadvertently omitted from the published story.

CAREY — With the game hanging in the balance, the Blue Devils were outdone. A 9-0 run out of a timeout in the closing minutes gave visiting Ridgedale enough cushion to escape Carey with its first Northern 10 Athletic Conference victory, 53-48.

FINDLAY — All high schools in the 22-county northwest district are invited to the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Northwest Ohio High School Indoor Track and Field Meet to be held Jan. 22 at the University of Findlay.

SANDUSKY — Mohawk split a pair of matches Friday night in a wrestling dual at Sandusky St. Mary, losing, 39-30, to Walsh Jesuit, and defeating Monroeville, 57-12. The Warriors won every wrestled match against the Eagles, surrendering only a pair of forfeits.
