CAREY — Third-seeded Carey cruised through its Division IV volleyball sectional semifinal Tuesday, serving 26 aces to top No. 13 Vanlue in less than 40 minutes, 25-6, 25-6, 25-3. “It always feels good to come out and just pick up where we left off,” Carey setter Sydney Wentling said.

NORTH ROBINSON — The Mohawk seventh grade football team defeated Colonel Crawford, 30-14, on Tuesday. Jesse Leeth rushed for two touchdowns and three two-point conversions. Leeth and Trey Combs both threw touchdown passes to Austin Tusing, who also had an interception on defense.

Cross country runners honored as All-N10 selections

Carey’s Destiny DeFeo earned All-Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls cross country runner of the year honors by winning the league championship Saturday. DeFeo, a sophomore who won the award for the second straight year, was joined on the first team by freshman teammate Keely Wentz and Upper Sandusky freshman Madelyn Shasteen.

Carey’s DeFeo defends Northern 10 cross country title

ATTICA — By the end of the 5-kilometer varsity races in Saturday’s Northern 10 Athletic Conference cross country championships at Seneca East High School, two N10 meet records had been broken. Colonel Crawford’s Chad Johnson just edged the 2014 time of Seneca East’s Carson Pipher by 0.67 seconds, and Carey’s Destiny DeFeo beat her 2014 time by 17.33 seconds, earning Runner of the Year honors in the league for the second straight year.
