USMS takes 2nd at Willard Dual tourney

WILLARD — The Upper Sandusky middle school wrestling team placed second at the Willard Dual meet tournament on Saturday. The Rams went 4-1 on the day, defeating Lexington, 51-15; St. Paul, 42-21; Willard, 51-18; and Shelby, 46-30.

ATTICA — One more time, Upper Sandusky slowed down one of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s top guards. The Rams held last year’s N10 scoring leader Seina Adachi to 13 points, and Abigail Fogle hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 32 seconds left to lift Upper Sandusky to a 49-45 victory at Seneca East on Saturday.

SYCAMORE — When it needed a bucket, Wynford had a play it could trust. Gretchen Harris drew a foul in the closing seconds and sank both free throws to push the Royals to a 39-37 victory at Mohawk on Saturday. “You better have a go-to play,” Wynford coach Amy Taylor-Sheldon said.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky had four individual champions and edged North Union for the team championship Saturday in the Bucyrus Invitational. The Rams finished with 253 points, with the Wildcats scoring 243 points. Lakota was a distant third with 171 points.

Dunlap’s 31 leads Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Brayden Dunlap knocked down seven 3-pointers and scored 31 points to lead the Mohawk boys basketball team to its first win of the season in dominant fashion, 70-44, against Bucyrus on Saturday night.
