Rams rally in first 2 sets, beat Bucks in 4

N10 leaders

For the past few years, the volleyball championship in the North Central Conference and now the Northern 10 Athletic Conference has come down to Upper Sandusky and Buckeye Central. If that is the case again, the Rams have the early advantage following a 25-23, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22 victory against the Bucks on Thursday night.

Upper surrenders only 2 games

Upper Sandusky shut out Crestline in nine of 10 sets and rolled to a 5-0 victory against Crestline on Thursday. The Rams (8-3) gave the day off to doubles players Nadia English and Hope Voorhees and singles player Paige Burger and still rolled.

Mowery’s 3 goals lifts Black Knights

VAN BUREN — J.J. Mowery scored three goals, and Van Buren rolled past Upper Sandusky, 7-0, in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday. Ryan Turner scored twice, and Trenton Boyette and Alex Langel also scored.

BUCYRUS — Carey dropped the first two sets but rallied for a 22-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-16, 15-12 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball action at Wynford on Thursday night. Blue Devils setter Sydney Wentling had a school single-match record 52 assists, going 111 of 111.

Riverdale shuts out Bluffton, 8-0

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls soccer team opened North Central Ohio Soccer Association play by rolling past Bluffton, 8-0, on Thursday. Reygan Frey and Aubreah Manns each scored two goals, and Gabi Rodriguez, Taylor Frey, Lexi Bahn and Alex Rothlisberger each had one goal apiece.

Falcons’ Renteria 2nd in quad

2nd place featured

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Antonio Renteria was runner-up in a quad meet hosted by Riverdale on Thursday. Only Van Buren’s and North Baltimore’s boys had enough runners to score, and the Black Knights beat the Tigers, 21-35.

Bulldogs edge Rams

Moving in

Ada slipped past Upper Sandusky, 3-2, in a girls tennis match Wednesday. The Bulldogs (11-4) had strong efforts in the top two singles matches and won a competitive No. 2 doubles match that proved to be the difference.

Leipsic remains unbeaten

LEIPSIC — Leipsic stayed unbeaten with a 25-16, 25-11, 25-22 victory against Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match Wednesday. Carrol Pauley led the Falcons (2-3) on offense with seven kills, going 20-of-20 hitting, and Cara Pauley added five kills.
