Upper clinches outright title

Four years running

SYCAMORE — With a victory against Mohawk clinching an outright Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball championship, the Upper Sandusky volleyball team has done something accomplished by only one other program in school history. The Rams won their fourth straight league championship, matching the feat of the girls track and field team from 1998-2001.

VAN BUREN — Riverdale had control and a chance to inch closer to rival Van Buren in the league standings, but poor communication on a lazy ball in the box changed the tune of Tuesday’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 North Central Ohio Soccer Association match.

Riverdale’s Renteria 26th

CRESTLINE — Riverdale’s Antonio Renteria was 26th to lead area runners Tuesday in the Crestline Invitational at Amman’s Park in Galion. Renteria finished in 18:15.52, while Audrey Leopold was 37th for the Falcons in the girls race in 23:14.99.

Carey rolls to win at Ridgedale

MORRAL — Shelby Kin had 20 kills, as Carey rolled to its 16th win Thursday at Ridgedale, taking the Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match, 25-11, 25-8, 25-13. Kin, already Carey’s all-time kills leader, is five kills away from recording 1,000 for her career.

Royals win for 6th time in last 7 matches

ATTICA — Wynford cruised to a two-set lead and held on in a close third to take a straight-sets victory at Seneca East on Tuesday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match, 25-17, 25-12, 25-23. Alyssa Harrer had 13 kills and went 15-of-15 from the service line with three aces.

Upper Sandusky clinched at least a share of a conference volleyball championship for the fourth straight year Monday night. With a 25-13, 25-12, 25-12 victory against Bucyrus, combined with Carey’s lost to Buckeye Central, the Rams are assured at least a piece of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference title and can clinch it outright with a win in any of its last three matches.

SYCAMORE — Mya Morris finished with 19 kills, 15 digs, four aces and two blocks to help Mohawk hold off Seneca East, 25-19, 25-9, 21-25, 25-13, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Monday.

North Baltimore edges Riverdale in 5

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale had solid margins in the sets it won but dropped two close sets and then fell in the fifth, losing a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match to North Baltimore, 25-23, 17-25, 26-24, 11-25, 15-6.
