The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team recently handed out awards for the past season.

Riverdale’s Tristian Davis and Dakota Gray earned second-team honors, and Evan McKee was a third-team selection on the All-Blanchard Valley Conference football team. Davis, a junior, was selected as an athlete on offense.

Seven Riverdale seniors earned Academic All-Blanchard Valley Conference honors. They were Taylor Farmer, Aricka Hill and Taylor Kuenzli from volleyball, Joe Lauck and Austin Miller from football and Aubreah Manns and Tiffany Penwell from cross country.  

CAREY — Novermber’s early sun set cast long shadows over the field where the Carey cross country team trained, as Trevor Cook led a pack of six runners in a brisk jog to end practice Tuesday. It was calm and warm for the time of year.

Five area players, including three from Mohawk, were named to the All-Northwest District Golf Coaches Association team.

BUCYRUS — Wynford High School is selling playoff tickets from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Friday and until 12 p.m. Saturday. All pre-sale tickets are $8. Tickets at the gate are $9.

FINDLAY — For the second time in three years, Riverdale fell one goal short against Liberty-Benton in a girls soccer district final. This one might sting a little more. Liberty-Benton was the beneficiary of a controversial call by the referee Saturday in its 2-1 victory over the Falcons.

TIFFIN — Trevor Cook is headed back to state for the third year in a row, and this time his team is going with him. Cook finished fourth in the Division III boys regional race at Hedges Boyer Park on Saturday, and three other Blue Devils runners finished in the top 30 to help the Carey boys cross country team place second and reserve a spot in the 2015 OHSAA...
