Riverdale has 7 honored as All-NCOSA

Riverdale’s Taylor Frey and Gabi Rodriguez, Upper Sandusky’s Grace Miller and Mohawk’s Ally Weinandy all were named to the All-North Central Ohio Soccer Association girls soccer first team. Second-team honors went to Riverdale’s Aubreah Manns and Sydney Holderman and Upper Sandusky’s Abigail Gerber and Megan Hensel and Mohawk’s Cambria Kohlenberg.

Mohawk makes point with sectional sweep

COLLINS — Mohawk felt like it had something to prove Saturday, and it certainly did it. The No. 6 seed Warriors dominated No. 5 Western Reserve at times and earned a sweep, 25-18, 25-15, 25-22, to win its sixth straight sectional championship.

Upper runners capture medals

LANCASTER — Upper Sandusky’s Troy Mawer, Justin Herring and Emma Brown all received medals for their performances Saturday in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Middle School/Junior High Invitational at Lancaster High School.

Top-ranked St. Henry sweeps Riverdale

ST. HENRY — The state’s top-ranked team in Division III, St. Henry, had no trouble in a sectional final match, defeating Riverdale, 25-6, 25-6, 25-10, on Saturday. The unbeaten and top-seeded Redskins (23-0) advance to the district semifinals and will face No. 8 seed Fort Recovery, which swept No. 6 Parkway.

Warnimont sparks Hornets in 2nd half

RAWSON — It was the tale of two halves for the Cory-Rawson Hornets offense on Friday night. After barely being able to scratch a first down in the first half, the Hornets, led by quarterback Mason Warnimont, hit their stride late in the game, striking for four touchdowns in the final quarter on their way to a 42-25 win over the Riverdale Falcons.

Blue Devils unable to slow down Tigers

ATTICA — During Carey’s three-game win streak to start October, the Blue Devils had tackled well and won the battle up front. Friday, they did neither of those things. Seneca East established it was the tougher team early, and the Tigers’ break-neck offense wore out visiting Carey for 532 yards in a 46-6 Northern 10 Athletic Conference beat-down.
