BUCYRUS — The Mohawk girls basketball has undergone a transition over the last month. After a two-point loss at Upper Sandusky on Dec. 18, the Warriors were 1-7, having dropped five straight Northern 10 Athletic Conference games.
Upper Sandusky came out running, and Seneca East could not catch up. The Rams scored repeatedly in transition to build an early advantage and then rolled to a 68-52 victory against the Tigers on Tuesday night.
MANSFIELD — Upper Sandusky defeated Riverdale, 51-18, and lost to host Madison, 39-30, in a tri-match Tuesday evening. Results for the match between Madison and Riverdale were not available.
NEW RIEGEL — Outside the banner of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, Carey had no problem on Tuesday. Shelby Kin scored 17 points and Sydney Kin had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to a 60-29 win at New Riegel.
BUCYRUS — Eight different players scored for Upper Sandusky in its 41-15 eighth grade girls basketball victory against Bucyrus on Tuesday.
All three Upper Sandusky cheerleading competition squads took first place for the second year in a row in the Mindi K. Justice Winter Cheer Extravaganza on Saturday at Riverdale. Courtney Sebenoler coaches the varsity team, and Stacy Taylor and Krista Kenner coach the middle school and Little Rams teams.
Mohawk and Carey earned the top two seeds in Division III Sub-Region 18-A for the OHSAA regional wrestling dual team tournament. Both teams had an opportunity to host the regional quarterfinal round Jan. 27, but only the Warriors will.
Upper Sandusky High School senior Betsy Young took first place at the Tri Village Powerlifting meet Saturday. She tied her personal record of 150 pounds in the bench press and set a PR in the dead lift for a total of 480 pounds.
