HARROD — Alex Kimmet shot an 83 to lead Carey to an eighth-place finish in its season-opening tournament, the Colonial Golfers Club Invitational hosted by Allen East. The Blue Devils finished with a 365. Liberty-Benton was the champion with a 324 in the 19-team tournament, beating Lima Bath by seven strokes.

The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team opened its season with a tightly-contested 3-2 victory against Kenton at home Monday. The Wildcats took the victories at No. 1 singles and doubles but the Rams earned the other three wins.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Kaden Holman, of Upper Sandusky, and Grant McGuire, of Wynford, played for the 9-and-younger All-Ohio baseball team at Grand Park in Indianapolis, Indiana, last weekend. The two boys were members of the local 9U Wyandot Boys team this summer and were two of 13 boys on the Ohio roster.

NEW WASHINGTON — Mohawk began its defense of its Northern 10 Athletic Conference championship in resounding fashion Monday, defeating Buckeye Central, 153-185, in a dual at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. Chet Margraf was medalist with a 2-over par 37, which was one stroke better than teammates Brayden Dunlap and Billy Dunlap with 38s.

ARLINGTON — Colonel Crawford won for the second time in as many matches this season and spoiled Riverdale’s opener with a 192-248 golf victory Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Harlon Roby paced the Falcons with a 50 that included a pair of pars.

NEW LONDON — Brayden Dunlap won medalist honors and two of his teammates finished right behind him as Mohawk captured the boys title in the New London Invitational on Friday at Millstone Hills Golf Course.

The Upper Sandusky Middle School and Little Rams competition cheer squads both opened their seasons with wins in their divisions at Delphos Jefferson on July 31 and the Auglaize County Fair on Monday.

BUCYRUS — The Wynford golf club started the season with a 220-229 victory over Northmor in a dual match at The Golf Club of Bucyrus on Thursday. MacKenton Johnson led the way for the Royals with a 49 through nine holes to earn medalist honors.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio High School Athletic Association’s board of directors voted Thursday to remove students who attend community and science, technology, engineering and mathematics schools from local public school enrollment counts.

LIMA — Upper Sandusky’s golf team had a strong start to its season by finishing fourth of 14 teams Thursday in the Allen East Invitational at Hawthorne Hills Golf Club in Lima. The Rams shot a 340 to edge fifth-place Clyde by two strokes.
