CINCINNATI — After having its previous three tournaments washed out because of rain, the 9-and-younger Wyandot Boys baseball team won the Fourth of July Extravaganza in Cincinnati on Sunday. The Wyandot Boys finished the season 30-4-1 and won four tournaments.

CALEDONIA — Kenton’s Britton Hensel won his third Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament in the 16-18 age group Tuesday playing through downpours and some wind at Whetstone Golf Club in Caledonia.

Shotzy’s Bar and Grille downed Bookie’s Lawn Service, 5-1, in a girls fastpitch tournament game July 1.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s Carrol Pauley competed at the USA Youth World Track and Field Championship Trials and the USATF Hershey Youth National Track and Field Championships recently.

SULPHUR SPRINGS — In conjunction with the Liberty Township Fireman’s Annual Festival, there is a 5K slated for 7 p.m. July 31 in Sulphur Springs, which is 6.5 miles northeast of Bucyrus on Ohio 98.

John McCallister knows football and more importantly, he loves it. McCallister, 66, of Upper Sandusky, has been involved with the game since he played in high school and college, along with a couple of stints as head coach before his true passion came to fruition — evaluating talent.

McCOMB — The 12-and-younger Riverdale Black softball team edged McComb, 8-7, and finished the regular season, 9-0. FOREST — The Tree Town Festival 3-on-3 basketball tournament is slated for July 11 at the Forest Park. Registration is 8-8:30 a.m. with no late entries.
