Upper Sandusky had a strong girls tennis senior day showing, sweeping Bucyrus 5-0 in Thursday in the final home match of the season. “It was awesome to get all the seniors in the lineup and for them to come out victorious,” Upper Sandusky coach Aaron Frazee said. The Rams (9-9) had six seniors in the lineup, with junior Mady Collins added to the mix and getting a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Layla Swerlein in No. 2 singles play. “She played her best in weeks and that was fantastic to see,” Frazee said. Zoe LaMont also won convincingly, beating Adalyn Zornes 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, and in the No. 3 match, Alondra Diaz defeated Addie Webber 6-3, 6-2. Things were tougher in doubles play, but Kylee Sayre and Sammy Strong topped Emma Graves and Amirah Price 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 1 match. Rachel Berger and Jenny Gutierrez closed out the sweep by taking a third-set super-tiebreaker in their 6-3, 1-6, 10-8 victory against Mya Rothhaar and Savannah Clark. “Bucyrus put up a good fight, especially on the doubles courts,” Frazee said. “This brings our record to 9-9 with one match to go, so we’re hoping the girls fight to get that winning record secured.” The Rams play at 4:15 p.m. Monday at Bellevue.
