Adopting an animal Posted on June 13, 2016 0 The Humane Society is located on CH 330 in Upper Sandusky, the first house on the right past the CSX railroad tracks. It is staffed from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week for taking in animals. Volunteers are on duty other times for emergencies. Call ahead to surrender large animals, unusual animals, giant breed dogs and groups of three or more animals. There also is a drop-off receiving station on Ohio 199 south of Carey at Tymochtee Creek. That location is open for animal surrenders 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Pick-up, rescue and capture services are available when necessary. The WCHS never charges a fee for the above referenced services or for animal surrender; however, donations to help cover expenses for caring for the animals are accepted. Regular hours for visiting or adopting are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Additional appointments may be arranged by calling 419-294-4477.
