Alice Nye Posted on March 9, 2020 0 Alice Nye, age 95, of Upper Sandusky, passed away at 10:48 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2020, at her home. Alice was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Upper Sandusky, to Thomas M. and Louise (Tschanen) Bowman, both of whom are deceased. She married Edward Nye on Dec. 29, 1956, in the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, and he passed away April 23, 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Faye (Brian) Evans, Frisco, Texas; two grandsons, Scott and Mark (Brittany) Evans, Frisco, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Van, Brisbane, Zane and Adelaide; along with a sister, Dorothy Pagnard, Upper Sandusky. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Thomas and Robert; and a sister, Martha Bowman. She was a 1943 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to graduate from Oberlin College majoring in elementary education, and minoring in music and art, having participated with the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She enjoyed playing the piano and violin. Alice began her teaching career with Cleveland school system having taught first grade for 10 years. Alice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky. She and her husband Ed enjoyed playing bridge, dancing and traveling together. Alice also enjoyed painting, drawing, doing needlework and sewing. A funeral service for Alice Nye is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Ken Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10-11 a.m. before the service Wednesday.
