Harpster council swears two members in Posted on September 14, 2023 0 Scott Robinson HARPSTER — Scott Robinson and Kip Binau were sworn into their new positions during Tuesday’s Harpster Village Council meeting. Harpster Mayor Tom McBride swore Robinson in as the council president before swearing in Binau as a new council member. Binau replaces Harold Newman, who resigned from council in July. McBride said the election for council officials is Nov. 7 and it also is the day for the Harpster tax levy renewal. Council member Mindy Frederick said trick-or-treat is 4-6 p.m. Oct. 28. McBride spoke to an attorney about the properties in town at risk for foreclosure and warned a resident. McBride said the warning seem to do the trick and the property looks “transformed” as the resident has started to make necessary repairs. McBride said there still are other residents and property owners he needs to get a hold of to see where the village stands on moving forward with other foreclosures. “I don’t know all the details on it yet,” McBride said. Council member Kim Heidenreich asked how Harpster can foreclose on a property and McBride replied that it can be done when ordinances are not being followed. McBride mentioned the village cookout Aug. 20 went well and there was a good turnout. “I thought it was good. It was a better turnout,” McBride said. McBride said the tree removal outside of the Pitt Community Center has been completed but there is not an official start date on the roof repair. McBride said the repairs need to get started soon.
