“At $8.21 per hour, workers would need to work 60 hours per week to afford the average apartment in the city of Upper Sandusky, keeping rent at 30 percent of monthly income.” This fact alone should concern the board. How is it that a Teenager working at Mcdonalds likely makes as much if not more than many of our valued Library Staff, and yet they (the board) are not concerned?
I hope after reading this article, that everyone writes to the board and asks them to explain themselves. Our community values and appreciates having a wonderful resource like the library. In valuing that resource, “the people” who assist us at the library should be the primary concern. The education requirements alone (for the majority of the staff) justify making more than a fast food worker in my humble opinion.
Alissa thank you for bringing this to everyones attention.
