WMH now offering COVID boosters Posted on October 28, 2021 0 Wyandot Memorial Hospital now is administering both Moderna and Pfizer vaccine boosters for COVID-19 in accordance with the Ohio Department of Health’s eligibility guidelines. COVID-19 boosters are available for select Ohioans who completed the primary vaccine series. A booster dose helps provide continued protection against severe disease, including hospitalization and death, in populations who are especially at risk for severe COVID-19. Individuals who originally received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series are eligible to receive a single booster dose if they are 65 years and older, age 18 and older who live in long-term care settings, age 18 and older who have underlying medical conditions or age 18 and older who work or live in high-risk settings. The Pfizer and Moderna boosters are to be administered at least six months after completion of the primary series. Individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for a booster dose if it has been at least two months since the first dose. Booster doses can be given using any available COVID-19 vaccine and do not have to be the same product given during the primary vaccine series. In addition to boosters, the hospital continues to offer the first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The Pfizer vaccine is approved for youth ages 12 to 17 and adults, and a parent or guardian must sign consent for the youth to receive the vaccination. The Moderna vaccine is approved for individuals 18 years of age and older. The COVID-19 vaccinations are provided at WMH Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome and appointments may be scheduled if desired. To schedule an appointment call 419-294-4991, ext. COVID (2684).
