Wyandot Memorial Hospital is offering Pfizer COVID-19 boosters to youth ages 12 to 17 Posted on January 12, 2022 0 The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved Pfizer boosters for fully vaccinated youth ages 12 to 15 last week. The CDC also recommended children 12 to 17 receive a booster dose five months after completing their initial vaccination series instead of the previous interval of six months. “We know these changes to the vaccine guidelines can be confusing,” noted Quality and Infection Prevention Director Valerie Schalk. “Reach out to us on the hospital’s COVID Call Line and we’ll be glad to help you sort it all out. We can make recommendations based on your individual situation.” Schalk said family medical providers are excellent resources when it comes to all vaccines, as they know their patients’ medical history. Wyandot Memorial offers Pfizer, Moderna and J&J COVID-19 vaccines for the initial series and boosters according to eligibility guidelines. The vaccines are available at the hospital’s walk-in clinics from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and appointments are available upon request. The COVID-19 vaccines are administered at the hospital’s surgery entrance and provided free of charge. Schalk indicated a few patients have mistakenly received bills for the vaccine and/or its administration and those are in error.
