Edgar Ward Posted on September 27, 2023 0 Edgar Ward went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023; Edgar passed away at his home in Vanlue. Visitation will be held at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 West Findlay Street, Carey on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, from 4 until 7 p.m. A funeral will be held at The Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, with Pastors David Flack and Doug McKinney officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service and burial will follow in Lee Cemetery. Donations may be made in Edgar’s honor to Ruth A. Ward. Verify Your Subscription Edgar was born on Jan. 16, 1944, in Waverly, Ohio to the late Thurman and Pearl (Conley) Ward and attended Waverly High School. Edgar worked at Atlas Crankshaft for many years and later retired as a machinist at Rockwell International. On March 24, 1961, Edgar married the love of his life, Ruth A. Hopkins in Chillicothe, Ohio, and she survives. Edgar was a man of deep and devoted faith. He attended The Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene. His life truly revolved around the Lord and his family. He enjoyed the countless hours spent with his children and grandchildren. Edgar could often be found working on many projects in his workshop. He was also an avid member of The NRA; he liked collecting guns and hosting Fire Arm Competitions. Edgar will be missed by his wife, Ruth; children; Patricia Ward, Shirley Ward, Ed (Terri) Ward Jr., Ken (Sara) Ward, and David (Terri) Ward; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Nancy Crates, and Rita Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Faith L. Keeney; and siblings, Robert Ward, John Ward, Francis Shorts, Dorothy Prince, and Donald Ward.
