Eugene John Orians Posted on July 2, 2016 0 CAREY — Eugene John Orians, of Carey, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at his residence. He was 87. Born June 11, 1929 in Salem Township, he was a son of the late Lawrence H. and Margaret E. (Myers) Orians. He married Donna L. Buckingham on April 11, 1953 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Carey. Mr. Orians also is survived by five children, Janet M. (Richard) Smith, Jenison Michigan; Brian E. (Sue) Orians, Medina; Gary E. (Steven) Orians, Phoenix; Neil E. (Diane) Orians, Mishawaka, Indiana; and Dale E. (Cheryl) Orians, Highland Heights; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie A. Frisch, Tiffin. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Donna M. Tinker, Barbara D. Mathern and Carol J. Orians; and a brother, James L. Orians. A 1947 graduate of Carey High School, Mr. Orians worked at National Lime & Stone, Carey, for 47 years, retiring as office manager. He also served as a Crawford Township trustee for 24 years. Mr. Orians served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951-53. He was a member and lector of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation. A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Basilica of OLC with the Rev. Vince Peterson, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard, of which Mr. Orians was a participant for many years. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a scripture service will begin at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OLC School or Creighton Dialysis Center in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W.
