CAREY — Henry A. Weatherholtz, 71, of Harpster, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at his residence.

Born Jan. 7, 1948, in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was a son of Henry A. and Willie Hazel (Smith) Perdieu, Sr.

He was adopted and raised by Lawrence and Colyer Weatherholtz. He married Linda S. Ritter on Nov. 23, 1968, in Upper Sandusky. Linda survives in Harpster.

Also surviving are four children, Jennifer Weatherholtz, Tina (George) Milum, Joshua (Kelly) Weatherholtz, and Zachary Weatherholtz, all of Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, Curtis and Chelsea Milum and Tiffani Watkins; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Chloe Milum; five siblings, Peggy (Melvin) Presler, of Carey; Barbara Pergerson, of Appomattox, Virginia; Judy Johnson, of Lynchburg, Virginia; Brenda (Aubrey) Hamlett, of Brookneal, Virginia, and Gary Hawkins of Marion; and a step-brother, Lawrence “Sonny” Weatherholtz, of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents and adopted parents.

Henry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart along with various other medals.

Upon returning to the states, he worked at Selected Beef Company and Ruttmann Construction, both in Upper Sandusky, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Marion Correctional Institute and retired from Continental Structural Plastics in 2010.

He was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky and a former member of the American Legion.

Henry loved being outdoors doing yard work, gardening and bird watching. For relaxation, he enjoyed playing the piano and working out in Hank’s gym.

Family and friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.

The funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Rodney Donohoo officiating.

Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Gospel Church and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH. 43316.
