34th annual Match Game Invitational bowling tourney begins this weekend Posted on March 1, 2019 0 The 34th annual Wyandot Match Game Invitational bowling tournament begins this weekend at Wyandot Lanes. First-round matches are being played at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday. In the first round, top-seeded and defending champion Don McLaughlin hopes to begin his run toward a fifth Match Game title when he faces No. 16 Bryan Capelle. He has won three of the last four. The No. 8-9 matchup features Derrick Gault against Keith Messmer. The rest of that quarter of the bracket pits Mike Hill against Jim Ross, a two-time champion, and Jim Stansbery — the 2017 runner-up — against Brandt Walton, a five-time champion. Last year’s runner-up Allen McLaughlin is the No. 2 seed and faces Chuck Koons, a runner-up in 2016. Eric Miller goes against Roger Ball, and in the other quarter of the bracket, Dave Ross meets Aaron VanHorn, while Jordan Fagan bowls against Al Garvin, the 2014 champion. Losers bowl at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the losers of those matches being eliminated. The winners match up at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Competition continues the following weekend. Additional matches are scheduled March 11, 13 and 16, with the final set for 3 p.m. March 17 at Wyandot Lanes.
