Chargers run away with big innings Posted on April 19, 2024 0 MILAN – Edison exploded over its final two at-bats and blew out Wynford 19-0 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Edison. After scoring once each in the first and second innings, the Chargers (6-2) scored six times in the third inning and then 11 times in the fourth inning. That was plenty of support for Carson Smith, who shut out the Royals (6-6) on two hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings. Brett Crall doubled, and Jake Stover singled for Wynford. Kaiden Blair (1-3) was the losing pitcher, giving up five earned runs on seven hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings. Drew Johson walked three and gave up four earned runs in just 1/3 inning, and Collen Hulsmeyer allowed two earned runs on four this and a walk with one strikeout in 1/3 inning. Abe Hermes had three hits, including a double, and scored four runs for Edison. Marcus Medina had two hits and scored three runs. Wynford hosts Carey at 5 p.m. Monday.
