Hinesman helps Upper boys take ninth at night CC meet

ATTICA — Upper Sandusky’s boys were ninth in the Division II race, while Mohawk’s Brayden Cleveland was the top individual placer, coming in fourth in the Division III race of Seneca East’s Stars, Stripes & Lights cross country meet Saturday night.

The Rams boys finished with 205 points. Utica was the champion with a 101-151 advantage over Ontario.

Evan Hinesman was Upper Sandusky’s top placer, coming in 14th in 17:25.79, with Jameson Reile finishing 34th in 18:04.73. Elijah Robinson was 45th in 18:23.06, Abe Baldwin took 49th place in 18:29.86, and Henry Minehart was 66th in 19:02.17.

Keystone’s Michael Gale won the Division II race in 16:33.85.

Cleveland was faster in the Division III race, finishing in 16:27.0, but that did not nearly match Northwestern’s Kade Tegtmeier, who finished in 15:53.09.

The Warriors’ Myer Kirian was the top freshman finisher in Division III, taking 24th place overall in 17:47.47. Another freshman, Phoenix Nally, was 56th in 18:46.82. Marty Justen was 125th in 20:21.12, and Tyler Coppus came in 146th in 21:07.70, for the 12th-place Warriors, who scored 314 points.

Carey’s Brayden Young finished 26th in 17:55.1, with Riley Miller placing 72nd in 19:11.57. Damon Zimmerly was 156th in 21:26.38, Owen Sidor took 170th place in 21:42.95, and Brylon Middleton finished 196th in 22:49.15. The Blue Devils were 20th with 493 points.

Brennen Westrick led Wynford by placing 135th in 20:39.98. Drew Pope was 158th in 21:30.63. After that, four runners were between 186th and 192nd for the Royals, who were 24th as a team with 661 points.

Mount Gilead was the Division III boys champion 81-131 over Seneca East.

Carey’s Chloe Etzinger took fifth place in the girls Division III race, finishing in 19:55.24. Abby Kurtz was 23rd in 21:46.83, Gracie Luhring took 52nd place in 23:17.68, and Grace Bianchi was 62nd in 23:39.18. Alexis Mattimoe completed the team score by finishing 90th in 25:11.96. The Blue Devils were seventh with 196 points.

For Mohawk, Addie Horner was 10th in 20:45.87, while Claire Johnson came in 31st in 22:13.15. Lilly Lawhorn finished 61st in 23:35.19, with Izzy Lawson placing 89th in 25:10.87.

For Wynford, Bri Westrick was 21st in 21:45.12, Kolbie Allgyre finished 100th in 25:57.66, and Ruby Stone was 129th in 28:37.08.

Neither Mohawk nor Wynford had enough runners to score as a team. Edison was the Division III girls champion 73-84 over Seneca East. New London’s Reese Landis won in 18:01.51.

In Division III, Upper Sandusky’s Hope Morris was 12th in 20:47.03, Abigail Ault finished 16th in 21:08.13, Brynlee Cundiff took 46th place in 22:43.78, and Ana Hernandez placed 89th in 25:44.30.

Indian Lake was the Division II girls champion 113-145 over Utica. Johnstown’s Reece Savage was the individual champion in 19:15.70.

Upper Sandusky’s junior high boys were third in the Division II/III 2-mile race, led by runner-up Carter Pohlman, who finished in 10:53.38, breaking his own school record he set last week. In the Division III boys race, Carey’s Callen Lewis was 40th in 13:36.05, Mohawk’s Evan Mullholand came in 30th in 13:06.78, and Wynford’s Kyle Pope was 47th in 13:55.70.

Carey’s girls were second in Division III junior high competition, led by Ema Ritter’s runner-up finish in 12:10.31. Wynford’s Aubrey Ritzler was the champion in 11:57.15. Mohawk’s Eva Johnson finished 11th in 13:33.81. Upper Sandusky’s Madison Miles finished eighth in 13:32.06 in the Division I/II race.

Carey and Mohawk compete in the Cline-Windom Lakota Invitational at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Upper Sandusky and Wynford run in the Galion Festival at 9 a.m. Saturday at Ammans Reservoir.
