Mohawk starts fast, thumps Buckeye Central Posted on December 18, 2023 0 SYCAMORE — Mohawk rolled to its second straight Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball victory by defeating Buckeye Central 64-29 on Saturday night at Mohawk. The Warriors (3-2, 2-1 N10) jumped out to a 29-8 lead after one quarter and were firmly in control 47-16 at halftime. They were up 55-20 at the end of the third quarter with a running clock in play. Hunter Haynes led the way with 15 points, while Brayden Chester scored 10 points. Boomer Cleveland had nine points, with Kaleb Bish and Connor Flood scoring eight each in a balanced effort. Jack Phillips provided most of the offense for the Bucks (1-4, 0-3 N10) with 17 points. Mohawk doubled up Buckeye Central in rebounding 24-12, led by Flood with seven. Buckeye Central had more turnovers, 16-7. The Warriors also rolled in the junior varsity game, 57-7, led by Brayden Bloom with 16 points and Donnie Hannam with 10.
