NOBL champion Royals 2nd in tournament

FOSTORIA — Wynford’s boys bowling team took second in the Northwest Ohio Bowling League tournament Saturday at Seneca Lanes and finished as overall champion.

Dave Lilly was named coach of the year. Kobie Naufzinger was fourth overall on the season and Tyler Bindner sixth to earn All-NOBL first-team honors.

Led by Luke Teders with a 674 series, Liberty-Benton took first place in the tournament. The Eagles’ Isaac Teders was NOBL bowler of the year. Bucyrus took third in the tournament.

Sebastian Prince was eighth on the season, Brian Schifer ninth and Dawson Lykens 14th individually, all of them earning All-NOBL second-team honors fort the Royals. Chris Wappelhorst also received honorable mention.

Prince and Bindner led Wynford during the tournament with fourth- and fifth-place scores, respectively. Naufzinger and Schifer were ninth and 10th.

Bucyrus was the NOBL girls champion, with Liberty-Benton placing second. The Eagles’ Avery Martin was the tournament’s top bowler with a 481 series. The Redmen’s Diane Kaple was named the girls coach of the year.

Addison Sebring paced the Royals in Saturday’s competition by finishing sixth place individually, while Cheyenne Dunford finished second in the overall season standings and earned all-league first-team honors. Sebring, 11th on the year, and Samantha Dornbirer, 13th, were named to the All-NOBL second team, while Kendall Naufzinger earned honorable mention.

Division II sectional action is next for the Royals at Seneca Lanes. The girls bowl at 10 a.m. Thursday, while the boys compete at 10 a.m. Friday.
